Cancellation Policy

Payment Terms

7–21 Day Tours
Bookings made 57 days or more before departure: a 20% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot. The remaining balance is due 56 days prior to departure.
Bookings made 56 days or less before departure: full payment is required at the time of booking.
Tours of 6 Days or Less
Regardless of departure date, full payment is required at the time of booking.
Payment Methods
Westar Travel accepts credit cards and wire transfers. If a credit card is used to pay the deposit, the same card will automatically be charged for the balance when due, unless an alternative method is provided in advance.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

57 days or more prior to departure: all payments are fully refundable except the non-refundable deposit.
56 days or less prior to departure: all payments are non-refundable.
Failure to pay the remaining balance by the due date will result in automatic cancellation and loss of the deposit.

Tour Changes or Cancellations by Westar Travel

If Westar Travel must significantly alter or cancel your tour, we will notify you as soon as possible. In such cases, you may choose one of the following options:

Accept a replacement tour of lower value (if available) and receive a refund of the price difference.
Accept a replacement tour of equal or higher value (if available).
Cancel and receive a full refund of all payments made, including the deposit.

Our 7 day tours are guaranteed departures.

Important things to note about your tour:

Please ensure that you have breakfast before you join the tour.
You have booked a camping tour. (Yes, this means tents!)
Upon payment of your local USD$140 food kitty, we include:
6 breakfasts – they are lite breakfasts, muffin, fruit or cereal with tea or coffee.
7 sandwich style lunches – (you make your own from our pre-shopped fresh ingredients and vegetarians are catered for)
5 evening meals – your tour guide will suggest menus and help shop for food items. Meals are cooked in camp as a communal effort. You will be expected to help.
There are many opportunities for walks and hikes on this tour. Not all walks are guided. Your Tour Guide will advise and make recommendations for walks to suit your ability and interest.
We do not provide water on this tour. We encourage our guests to bring a refillable container. This may be as simple as a plastic 1 liter bottle purchased from any convenience store. You may refill this every time we make a comfort stop, and we will happily recycle it for you at the end of your tour if you wish.
You are fully responsible for necessary visas for this tour to allow you to enter the USA and Canada.
Tour Guide Gratuities
It is customary to tip your guide. USD$175 per person is the recommended amount for this tour.
We highly recommend travel/medical insurance, please have your insurance details and your passport/photo ID ready for inspection at departure. You may also choose to travel without insurance, although we highly recommend that you have medical coverage in place.
The luggage allowance for this tour is up to 20kgs per person either a hard case or a backpack plus a small day bag for your camera, sunscreen etc. You will not be permitted to join this tour with more than your permitted luggage weight.

Tips:

We recommend bringing the following items:

We provide all necessary camping equipment, including tents and 1 inch thick foam sleeping mat. Tents are twin share and solo travelers will be paired with another client of the same sex. We suggest you bring the following items:

3-Season sleeping bag. You may rent a sleeping bag from us for USD$40 pp – please notify in advance.
Warm, layered clothing (You may experience both warm and cool temperatures. It is recommended that you pack warm socks, a sweater or hooded jacket)
Rainproof jacket (just in case)
Sun hat
Day bag to bring on your walks
Refillable water bottle
Toiletries for camping (including sunscreen and hand soap)
Camp towels and flip-flops (for showering)
Small camp pillow
Flashlight/ Headlamp
Comfortable walking shoes
Hiking poles if you’d like to use them
A few snacks for hiking that you know you’ll enjoy (there will be stops for snacks on tour as well)

Remember, there is no Wi-Fi on the bus and some locations do not have service.
